Welcome to the World of Timba and Lula
This blog has been created to share short stories, thoughts and illustrations from the World of Timba and Lula. The first book on which the animation is based tells of how an old woman gathered all her best memories and created two special toys. Timba... gentle, wise and strong and Lula...cheeky, loving and funny. The World of Timba and Lula is about love and nurture.

Something Special...The Invitation
For some children come with ease for others the journey is a little harder. This post is dedicated to all those who dream of children. It is from this place that Timba and Lula were born.
The Invitation
You have not arrived yet and I do not know your name
But from somewhere deep inside me these words suddenly came
I wanted to write a special poem just to let you know
That it does not matter when you arrive I will love you from head to toe
I think that you know me, are watching me from afar
Waiting for that special moment to show me who you are
You probably know more now than you will when you arrive
For it seems when we are born on earth it’s into the deep-end we dive
But that is where I come in, the importance of my job
To lead you through life’s ups and downs, each laugh and every sob
For sometimes the world seems like a cruel and heartless place
An endless struggle for most of the human race
But somewhere in the middle from the lion to the dove
The world is filled with a priceless warmth that we call love
So come down and visit, I promise we will give it our all
For waiting to protect us both is your father so strong and tall
This is my formal invitation, my stamped and sealed request
And finally, a promise that we will do our bestTuesday, August 17, 2010

Lula's Daisy Chain Hearts!
Happy Sunday everyone
Thought we'd think of something fun
Something fun a task to do
So we can spend some time with you
Lula is making a chain of hearts
Especially for those who love art
First find some paper, she chose red
"Blue for me!" Timba said
Now fold the paper like a fan
looking like a zig-zag is part of the plan
Now you should have a thin long strip
Divide it into three then...snip snip snip
Three separate pieces all folded and neat
Cut a bigger heart from another sheet
when you put it on top it must be a little wide
The edges equally falling out each side
Trace with a pencil then cut on the line
Remember to leave the folded edge fine
Pull open your fan and what do you find
A row of hearts all combined
Now do this to all of your neat little piles
For best results you must do this with smiles!
When you have finished, join them with tape
(This can also be done with another shape)
Now for the best part before you hang it anywhere
Wall to wall, curtain rail or chair
You must write the names of special people you know
The amount of hearts you make may grow
Mum, Dad, brothers and sisters big and small
Grandad, Gran, family and friends short and tall
You may want to put a few names on each heart
Its totally your choice, its your work of art.
Now this is the VERY important part
The magical part of the daisy chain heart
Give each little heart a sweet little kiss
Blow one into the air for anyone you miss
When they are hung look to the sky above
And ask the wind to carry them love.

Timba's Flying Dream
It was morning, time to get out of bed.
Lula giggled when Timba said...
“Lula, my friend, I dreamt I could fly,
fly like a bird up in the sky.”
“What could you see?” she asked her bear.
“What was it like up in the air?”
Timba thought, head to one side,
remembering the details of his night-time ride:
“A little cold with wind racing through my fur.
At first my eyes were a bit of a blur,
but I dreamt up some goggles - you can do that in a dream;
In fact, if I‘d wanted I could have eaten ice-cream;
but I didn”t do that! Imagine the mess
of a flying bear covered in creaminess.
“I flew over mountains and swooped down on a lake.
The snow on the mountain looked like an iced cake.
There were birds, butterflies and busy bees
each with wings flapping and fluttering in the breeze.
“I was so pleased to be a part of the sky
but other flying creatures had to ask why.
‘Why is a bear not safely on ground -
Because that’s where bears are usually found?’ ”
”But, Timba, you are no ordinary bear.
You and I are an interesting pair.
We were created with love, made from memories of joy
by an old woman who wanted a toy.
“First she made you, then decided on me,
with a baby blanket tummy for everyone to see.”
Lula, still standing next to Timba’s bed,
was imagining her friend and all that he’d said.
“Next time, Timba, when you have a flying dream,
Please call me up and we’ll fly as a team.”
So, even though a new day had just begun,
sharing Timba’s dream of night-flying had been fun.
